MOUNT POTTS BACKCOUNTRY SKI & WAKEBOARD CAMPS Come and experience Mt.Potts in the summertime with the warm, friendly and fun New Zealanders! Not only do Mt. Potts offer a superb Heli-Ski operation in the wintertime (see the heli-ski & snowcat operators page on this website), but they also provide wakeboarding and waterski camps in the summer. The camps are run out of Lake Clearwater, where you can enjoy fantastic skiing and boarding on a quiet, glassy and scenic warm water lake just waiting for you to break the surface. Learn new tricks, enjoy fun picnics by the lake and BBQs at the lodge in the evenings. The Slippery Trout bar open's in the evenings where you can enjoy a few cold beers as the sun goes down to wrap up a perfect day. Group sizes are limited to no more than eight skiers and boarders, so you get as many runs as your arms can handle. You must bring your own equipment. LONE STAR WATER SKI SCHOOL AND WAKEBOARD CAMP, TEXAS. At Lone Star they offer a first-class, fun, and educational wakeboard and water ski program. They teach two-ski, slalom, wakeboarding, tricks, kneeboarding, barefooting, and much more. Regardless of your age, skiing ability or goals, they guarantee personalized, quality instruction. They keep their groups small to ensure lots of time on the water. Lone Star Water Ski school and Wakeboard Camp is located about 45 minutes east of Austin, Texas. They offer single or multi-day instruction.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN WATER SKI TRAINING CENTRE, AUSTRALIA. You are invited to come and ski with South Australia's most experienced full-time professional water skier and instructor, Simon Hill. The South Australian Water Ski Training Centre is run by Senior Coach, Simon Hill. Simon spends part of the year in the U.S.A. competing in pro competition, the other half runs the ski school in Australia. They offer instruction for beginner on one and two skis, dry starts, slalom, wake boarding, tricks, jumping, kneeboarding, barefooting; starts, forward, backward, tumble, etc. Packages range from single day trips to weekenders or full weekly bookings.

HORTON LAKES WATER SKI SCHOOL, NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA. This facility is the first site in the world that was constructed with the water skier in mind. This creation was devised by Dr. Jack Horton, 5-time National over all champion, who after years of skiing on various waters, dreamed of creating a ski lake with perfect conditions. The pattern of these lakes, which offer smooth water in any kind of weather, has been copied by other tournament ski lakes built all over the world. The staff members are carefully chosen from those who have a combination of athletic ability proven in national and international competition, and teaching skills that are projected with care in accordance with every student's individual age and level. Each lesson is private and concentrates on the areas the student wishes. Boat driving, a key to rapid student advancement, is unexcelled. They offer only late model tournament approved towboats. A large selection of skis and jackets are available to the students although you are urged to bring your own equipment and also try theirs. The ski school opens in late April and continues through October or later, weather permitting. They are located in Newberry Springs (23 miles east of Barstow between Highway 40 and Highway 15), California, U.S.A.

CUTTING EDGE WATER SKI SCHOOL - IRVINE, CALIFORNIA. This school was established in 1993. They specialize in beginner to advanced water skiing, wakeboarding, slalom and bare-footing. They are ASWA certified instructors, and always have a professional driver as well as excellent conditions provided by a sheltered cove. They are located at Irvine Lake, which is nestled in the base of the Santa Ana Mountains in California, U.S.A. Irvine Lake has been a secret retreat for the people of California offering beautiful terrain, and perfect water skiing conditions making it an ideal place to learn or perfect your water skiing skills. They do not offer overnight accommodations and offer their instruction during scheduled hours, Monday through Sunday.

MIKE MUNN'S INTERNATIONAL SKI SCHOOL - HOUSTON, TEXAS. The ski school is located in northeast Houston, on a very sheltered, private lake. This assures the best possible skiing conditions in the Houston area. Their instruction covers beginner to competition level. Lessons are given in slalom, tricks, jump, barefoot, and wakeboarding. Each lesson is taught on an individual basis by experienced professionals. They offer weekly, daily and single ski packages. Equipment is provided on request (skis, ski vests, boards, etc.) It is recommended that you bring your own equipment that you are familiar with. Both Mastercraft and Ski Nautique boats are used with PerfectPass systems.

SKI PARADISE - ACAPULCO, MEXICO. For the past seven out of eight years, Laguna Coyuca has been their outstanding ski site. It is a fresh water lagoon on one side with the Pacific Ocean on the other side. All that separates the two is a coconut tree-lined stretch of land in the middle. Just south of the airport, they have another private ski site, Laguna Azul, which is half-fresh and half-salt water. Both of these lagoons offer smooth and warm water for perfect water ski conditions. They spend about 5 to 6 hours every day at the ski site - arriving at about 9:00 a.m. and leaving for lunch between 2 and 3pm. Instruction is offered in two skis, slalom, wakeboarding, and air-chair. The fleet of boats includes Mastercraft 190 Prostars and a 1999 MB Sports Tournament Boat. You are welcome to demo their equipment although it is recommended that you bring your own equipment, which you are familiar with. Weeklong packages are available including food and lodging.

INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT SKIING AT SUNSET LAKES, CENTRAL FLORIDA. Individualized instruction is the key to success at Sunset Lakes. Whether slaloming, jumping, trick skiing, barefooting or wakeboarding. Each student receives on-the-water-individualized attention. Customized workouts are available for the beginner, intermediate and professional skier. Video taping is available with critiquing from one of their handpicked staff. Regular sessions are Monday through Friday, the two-day weekend session begins on Saturday. Private lessons with Jack Travers or one of his staff are also available. All sessions may be arranged with or without room and board. Jack Travers is world-renowned for his coaching prowess. Whether you're a beginner or experienced skier, jack and his staff of experts can fine-tune your abilities. More than sixty world and national caliber champions have been trained at the Sunset Lakes Facility. Skiers from more than twenty-five countries around the world have selected Sunset Lakes as their personal training site.

CORY PICKOS WORLD SKI & WAKEBOARD SCHOOL - SANTA ROSA BEACH, FLORIDA. The Cory Pickos World Ski & Wakeboard School offers instruction in water skiing and wakeboarding. They are committed to ensuring that each and every student receives the finest, up to date and individualized coaching available. Instruction is offered for the beginner to tournament level skier on three freshwater, man-made tournament lakes for perfect water skiing conditions. John, a former competitive slalom skier/professional barefooter, has over fifteen years of water ski instruction experience. He has trained and taught with three of the last five World Barefoot Champions as well as several U.S. Team skiers. Slalom, wakeboard or barefoot, first-timer or expert, John Albright can make a difference in your skiing. John is an AWSA Certified Instructor. Darren Rayzor and Joe Miltner are their featured wakeboard instructors for 1999. Both have been featured extensively in Wakeboard Magazine, Launch Magazine and many videos.
